PRAXIS II in South Korea

This month I went to Seoul to sit for the PRAXIS 5001 Elementary Content exam and the 5622 Principles of Learning and Teaching exam. Wanting to be efficient with time and travel costs, I scheduled the two exams back to back. I took the train to Seoul, spent the night in a hotel, then arrived at the NEW Prometric Testing Center at 9am. Thank goodness for the fool proof marvel that is the Seoul underground.

When I took the PRAXIS Core back in January the testing center was in Dongdaemoon. However, they have since moved to a new building located at:

SEOUL, Hannam-Daero
AP&C Korea, 2nd Floor 47-6, Hannam-daero
20-gil, Yongsan-gu
SEOUL, 04419

It is a 15 walk away from Hannam Station, or a bit further from Itaewon.
First floor is empty, but it’s in there!

It is a brand new concrete building in an alley way so it’s tricky to find if you don’t use a map. However, the neighborhood is full of boutique restaurants and cafes, so I highly recommend to explore the area a bit. It took me a moment to figure out how to go upstairs… there in a stair case and elevator towards the back, past the creepy basement steps.

There are two floors for Prometric helping, check the 4 digit number on your entry ticket, it will match the number for either the 2nd or 3rd floor suite. There is a toilet on each floor, and lockets that fit a large backpack if you are traveling and carrying luggage like I was.

I am happy to report I successfully passed both my exams! I waited until I finished student teaching to start studying, so that gave me roughly three weeks. I studies about 2-3 hours a day most evenings, less than I wanted due to having 2 small children to entertain all day. I highly recommend using the study guides of http://kathleenjasper.com. I purchased the 5001 and 5622 study guides, and the 5001 online course during a Black Friday sale last year and put them aside for 9 months. I felt so prepared after 3 weeks, and honestly, the exams felt easier than I thought they would be after studying! Check her resources out, she has free Youtube videos to help prepare too.

Now I will submit my packet to the OSSE DC Office of Education for my license!
